Mulayam’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav Dances to Padmavati’s Ghoomar, Karni Sena Cries foul

Aparna Yadav, wearing red, was recorded recreation to the song “Ghoomar” from the film “Padmavati” at a non-public event some time last week in Lucknow. Her father Arvind Singh Bisht, Uttar Pradesh’s data commissioner told NDTV, “We don’t have any interest in any film or any scandal around it. At these non-public wedding functions, people usually dance to folk songs and film songs. That was the spirit in which she danced.” Aparna Yadav is the younger daughter-in-law of Samajawdi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. She contested  the Uttar Pradesh election earlier this year however was defeated in the constituency of Lucknow. “Ghoomar” is the 1st song that was released from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film, “Padmavati”, that has aggravated protests, a number of them violent; it’s been prohibited by the Chief Ministers of 4 states who say they’ll not let it screen even though the 190-crore film is cleared by the censor board or CBFC.

“Ghoomar” received ten million views among twenty four hours of its release in October. Mr Bhansali has denied any such romance. Padmini, consistent with legend, wanted to shield her honour by setting herself on fire when Khilji killed her husband in battle.

The Supreme Court has refused 3 requests up to now to ban the film among India and abroad, stating that the censor board should 1st review it and take a turn its certification.

The Rajput Karni Sena has objected to Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, recreation on the Ghoomar song from the film ‘Padmavati’ during her brother’s engagement party at a five-star hotel here.

Aparna performed a dance on the song on November twenty three when her younger brother Aman Singh Bisht got engaged to Vandita Sahu. This comes amidst the continued controversy with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ together with the Ghoomar song with many teams, mainly Rajput, are demanding  a ban on the film, star Deepika Padukone with Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in key roles. Padmavati has been involved in controversy since its shooting started. Activists of the Karni Sena claim the film “distorts” historical facts. The film was earlier scheduled to be released on December one, however it’s been postponed.

Recently, hearing a PIL seeking a ban on the film, a bench headed by justice of India, Dipak Misra aforesaid statements created by persons holding power or high workplace regarding the film is equivalent to “pre-judging” it before it’s cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). “When the matter is pending for CBFC’s thought, however will persons holding public offices comment on whether CBFC ought to issue (a) certificate or not? It’ll prejudice the decision-making of CBFC,” the bench aforesaid whereas dismissing the PIL.
